# Partner onboarding journeys that run themselves.

A partner onboarding journey is a step-by-step playbook a partner works through to become productive. In Suger PRM you build the journey once, assign it to the partners it applies to, and both sides watch the same progress — your team from the console, the partner from your branded portal.

## What is a partner onboarding journey?

A partner onboarding journey is a step-by-step playbook that tells a partner exactly what to complete, and in what order, before they can sell. In Suger PRM a journey is a reusable object: you define the steps once, assign it to the partners it applies to, and then follow completion from a single view instead of reconstructing it from a spreadsheet and a shared inbox.

### A playbook, not an email thread

Write the onboarding path down once as an ordered set of steps, so every partner gets the same start instead of whatever your last alliances hire remembered to send.

### Assigned to the partners you choose

A journey is a template until you assign it. Give a reseller one path and a GSI another, and each partner sees only the journey they were assigned.

### Progress both sides can see

Your team watches completion from inside Suger while the partner watches the same steps from their own portal, so neither side has to ask where things stand.

Create and assign

## Write the onboarding path down once

Build the journey as an ordered list of steps, then assign it to the partners who should follow it. Because the journey is a template, a second reseller does not mean a second onboarding plan — it means one more assignment against a path your team has already agreed on.

What you control

- The steps in the journey and the order a partner takes them in
- Which partners each journey is assigned to
- Separate journeys for resellers, GSIs, VARs, and ISV partners
- One agreed onboarding path instead of one per alliances manager

## See which partners are actually onboarding

The vendor-side progress view answers the question every partner program asks on a Monday: who is moving and who is stuck. Suger PRM shows how far each assigned partner has moved through their journey, so your alliances team spends its time on the partners that stalled rather than on collecting status.

- Completion per partner against the journey you assigned
- Partners who have not started, separated from partners mid-way
- One view across every partner type in the program

The partner side

## What onboarding looks like to your partner

Partners follow the journey from their own view inside your branded portal. They see the same steps your team sees, in the same order, which is why the status question stops being an email.

1

### Sign in to your portal

The partner opens the branded partner portal and finds the journey you assigned waiting for them.

2

### See what is next

The journey lays the onboarding path out in order, so the partner always knows which step to pick up.

3

### Work through each step

Steps are completed in the portal — training, profile details, and the rest of what you asked for.

4

### Watch progress update

The partner-side view reflects what is finished and what remains, and your team sees the same picture.

## Journeys, training, and certification are one path

A journey is the sequence. Training is what a partner does inside it. A certification is the proof they finished. Suger PRM runs all three in the same partner portal, so onboarding does not hand off to a separate learning tool halfway through.

01

### Assign the journey

The partner gets an ordered path the moment they join your program.

02

### Point at the training

Courses you published in the partner LMS become steps the partner works through.

03

### Certify the outcome

Finished training turns into a certification your team can track and the partner can show.

## Partner journey documentation

Three docs cover the full path: building and assigning the journey, tracking it from your side, and what the partner sees from theirs.

## Partner onboarding journey questions

What is a partner onboarding journey?

A partner onboarding journey is a step-by-step playbook that tells a partner exactly what to complete, and in what order, to get productive. In Suger PRM you build the journey once and assign it to the partners who should follow it.

How do I assign a journey to a partner?

You build the journey in Suger PRM and assign it to the partners it applies to. A journey is a reusable template, so one onboarding path can cover an entire partner type rather than being rebuilt per account.

Can we see how far along each partner is?

Yes. The vendor-side journey progress view shows which partners have finished their assigned journey, which are mid-way, and which have not started, so your alliances team can chase the ones that stalled.

Can partners see their own progress?

Yes. Partners follow the same journey from their own view in your branded portal, so they can see the steps ahead of them and what they have already completed without emailing your team for a status update.

What usually goes into a partner onboarding journey?

Most programs start with the things a partner must finish before selling: completing their partnership profile, adding portal users, working through training, earning a certification, and registering a first deal.

How do journeys relate to partner training and certification?

Journeys are the sequence; training and certification are steps inside it. A journey points partners at the courses you published, and a certification marks the point where a partner has proved they finished the training.
